A middle manager in India allegedly stopped an employee from taking his lunch break. The reason? “Work first, food later.”

But what stood out wasn’t the manager’s behavior  it was the employee’s response:

"Khane ke liye hi toh kama raha hu, aur yahan aap mujhe khana khaane se hi rok rahe ho." 

The employee chose to go ahead with his lunch anyway. His manager? Started ignoring him after that.

This news is  going viral cz this isn't just about food. It’s about dignity. About basic respect. About how hunger is still being overruled by hierarchy in some workplaces.

Yes, many managers today are kind and understanding but stories like this show that toxic thinking still exists in some corners of the workplace, where skipping lunch is weirdly seen as a sign of dedication

Why do managers think R&D = “Fix everything magically without time, data, or support”? 

I've been in this role for 3+ years. I love problem-solving. But lately, the expectations are just insane. “Find root cause ASAP.” “Why didn’t you predict this error?” Bro, if I could predict product failures before they happen, I’d be running NASA, not this joke of a team!

And the best part? If it works, no praise. If it fails? Whole team mails, 9 PM calls, and lectures about “ownership”. Seriously, R&D folks deserve better than being treated like backup plans for poor planning!

Real poverty is much much higher in USA than data suggests. Poverty in my view is how much you can afford, healthcare costs vs incomes, house cost vs income, wealth inequalities etc. 

Profits over people. 

It's sad that BJP Congress both are pursuing American model in everything. From a cars focused society to skyscrapers to metros to crony capitalism, we are absorbing all the bad things from USA but ignoring the great things in Europe or USA for eg.

Shocking to see widespread poverty in the richest country of the world USA. Is this the model govt wants to push down our throats??

As someone working in HR myself, I’m honestly shaken.
It’s disappointing, it’s damaging, and it reflects poorly on the entire people function even when it’s just one individual.

The role of HR is to create safe, fair, and people-first workplaces. But when someone at the top is being called out this way, how do you even begin to repair the trust?
