Why Can't Lunch Be Peaceful?
I'm a big introvert, so being around people for too long makes me super tired. All I want to do is read or watch something when I'm not working. I always thought being a computer person would be more of a me and my screens in a dark room kind of thing, you know? That's partly why I even studied this stuff!
Honestly, sometimes I just want to eat my sandwich in peace. My mom always told us not to talk while eating, like you might choke. Makes sense to me! So why's lunchtime this big talk fest?
And get this , I'm trying to eat healthier, smaller portions and stuff, right? And this one older guy at work always has something to say about my food. like, can't he just leave me alone to eat my little bit of lunch? I just wanna do my job and get my paycheck. I don't really care about chatting about politics or what everyone did on my food break.

I'm completely with you. Having lunch daily with colleagues at work is a nightmare. There's too much talk, gossip, judgement, sharing, privacy invasion..etc. it's been 5 years since I started to work from home and I love it. I eat lunch alone, watching some funny sitcoms, free from all the work noises. I'm never going back to work from office setup.

Act dumb and just smile. Feed their egos and opinions and don't give two f about anyone. There are only selective people that are actually worth(in networking). It's a gamble so try to be moderate with everyone.

[timepasstiwari](username) Does office politics affect getting promotions or increments?

[a content writer](username) I guess you are new to industry, just make your presence felt to the team just like your senior did by pointing out to your food.. Tip: Observe and learn

Bro I'm an introvert techie like you. You don't have to mingle or talk with people. You can totally skip that and increase your skills and take a permanent wfh job in another company. All this connection and stuff is crap made by middle aged managers desparately trying to keep their positions relevant.
There's another route you can take that's not as extreme. You can find a small group of people your age, preferably with couple of extroverts and just casually hang out. Extroverts will take care of activities and stuff. It will be good for your mental health long term as well to have some human connection, not for some bs career reasons.

[matkasur](username) I also thought of getting a full remote job. Moreover due to current economic conditions, mostly no one is hiring. So when the economy is back to normal I'll do that.

[greatking](username) I personally feel, college is the time of freedom. In college, you should only do the things that you want to do. Before college, parents' pressure. After college, job pressure. During college be yourself. Don't worry too much.
You don't like your current friends? No issue, avoid them. You want to spend 10 hours watching Netflix? Do that. Whatever makes you happy :)
