GM MEP

Job Summary:

The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Head is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of all MEP systems within various construction projects, ensuring adherence to project specifications, codes, and safety standards. This role requires close coordination with project and purchase teams, contractors, and clients to deliver efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective MEP solutions that meet the quality standards of the organization. Additionally, the MEP Head will manage material inventory, reconciliation, and wastage to ensure optimal resource allocation and efficient usage across sites.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Management

Lead the design, budgeting, scheduling, and execution of MEP systems for projects.

Establish project goals, scope, and budgets, and ensure alignment with company objectives.

Manage multiple projects concurrently, overseeing timelines and budgets for MEP deliverables.

2. Design & Technical Oversight

Review and approve MEP system designs to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Work with design teams to optimize solutions that meet both technical requirements and client expectations.

Conduct regular design reviews and provide technical guidance to resolve design conflicts and optimize functionality.

3. Team Leadership & Coordination

Manage and mentor a team of MEP engineers, project managers, and supervisors.

Coordinate with other project teams (civil, structural and architectural) to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems within the overall project framework.

Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and external consultants to oversee the quality and efficiency of MEP installations.

4. Quality Control & Compliance

Develop and enforce quality assurance processes for all MEP systems to ensure they meet established standards and regulations.

Ensure MEP systems are installed as per the approved design and specifications.

Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess compliance and address any non-conformance issues.

5. Cost Management

Monitor MEP budgets and project expenditures to ensure alignment with financial goals.

Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or functionality.

Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for all MEP aspects of the project.

6. Safety and Environmental Compliance

Enforce strict safety standards and practices, ensuring all MEP work adheres to safety regulations.

Integrate sustainable and environmentally friendly practices within MEP systems design and operation.

7. Reporting & Documentation

Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on MEP progress, cost control, and any potential risks.

Maintain comprehensive documentation for MEP designs, changes, approvals, and compliance certificates.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Masters degree or relevant certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP) is preferred.

Experience: 20+ years of experience in MEP design, management, and execution within the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in MEP design software (AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP).

Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and regulations (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE).

Familiarity with sustainable practices and energy-efficient MEP solutions.

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, manage contractors, and work cross-functionally with other departments.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex MEP issues and optimize systems for performance and cost-effectiveness.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and effectively.

Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
