Design Engineer - Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Key Responsibilities

• Design Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including SLDs, layouts, and system integration plans for utility-scale and C&I projects.
• Perform BESS sizing, battery/inverter selection, and system feasibility studies.
• Create detailed engineering deliverables BOQs, GTPs, execution drawings, cable/termination schedules, etc.
• Conduct electrical calculations such as voltage drop, fault level, and load flow.
• Ensure designs comply with IS, IEC, IEEE, and other relevant standards and safety norms.
• Collaborate with procurement, project management, and on-site execution teams for smooth project delivery.
• Liaise with clients, DISCOMs, and statutory authorities for design approvals and technical clarifications.
• Support installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of BESS and hybrid systems.
• Keep updated on emerging battery technologies, hybrid system architectures, and government policies.

Qualifications

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics & Power Engineering. Diploma holders with strong experience may also be considered.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in electrical design, with at least 3 years in BESS or renewable energy systems.
• Technical Skills:
• Software: AutoCAD, ETAP, PV-Syst, Helioscope (optional), MS Excel.
• Strong knowledge of lithium-ion battery technologies, inverters, and protection systems.
• Understanding of renewable energy integration, hybrid systems, and microgrids.
