Job Purpose:

To deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences in IBDP Chemistry that engage and challenge students. The teacher will be responsible for preparing students for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Chemistry assessments, while fostering inquiry, scientific thinking, and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach IBDP Chemistry (both Standard and Higher Level) in accordance with the IBO guidelines and curriculum framework.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that reflect the philosophy of the IB and develop students understanding of scientific concepts and processes.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies and assessment tools to cater to diverse learning needs and promote conceptual understanding.
• Design and conduct practical experiments in a safe and supportive laboratory environment.
• Supervise and guide students in their Internal Assessment (IA) and support students undertaking Extended Essays in Chemistry.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and assessment outcomes.
• Participate in collaborative planning and regular departmental meetings.
• Support the implementation of the school’s academic and pastoral care programs.
• Attend IB training and stay updated with changes in the IB curriculum.
• Contribute to school events, open houses, science fairs, and extracurricular science-related activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry or a related field.
• Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB World School.
• IB DP Chemistry training/workshop certification (preferred).
• Strong understanding of the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL).
• Experience in inquiry-based and student-centered pedagogy.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to integrate technology effectively in teaching and learning.
