Job Description
The Shift Engineer is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation and maintenance of our Biogas Production Plant during their assigned shift. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the continuous and safe production of biogas to meet production targets and quality standards. The Shift Engineer will lead a team of technicians and operators and coordinate activities to maximize plant uptime and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Plant Operations: Continuously monitor the operation of the Biogas Production Plant during the assigned shift to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with operating procedures.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and operational issues promptly, taking corrective action as needed to minimize downtime.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of technicians and operators during the shift, ensuring that tasks are assigned and completed efficiently.
- Routine Maintenance: Oversee routine maintenance activities, including equipment inspections, lubrication, and minor repairs, to ensure optimal plant performance.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all plant personnel. Conduct safety training as necessary.
- Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality of the biogas produced, making necessary adjustments to maintain product specifications.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and any incidents that occur during the shift.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies or unexpected operational issues, coordinating with the appropriate personnel and authorities as needed.
- Communication: Provide regular shift reports to Plant Manager and collaborate with other shifts to ensure a smooth transition of operations.
- Energy Efficiency: Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and propose solutions to reduce energy consumption.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of biogas production plants or similar industrial facilities.
- Strong knowledge of biogas production processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Ability to lead a team effectively and make quick, informed decisions during emergencies.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work in a shift-based schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations related to biogas production is a plus.
