5-Axis CNC Programmer and Machinist For Oil Country Tubular Limited

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented 5-Axis CNC Programmer and Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating 5-axis CNC machines to produce complex parts to exact specifications, typically for industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical, and defense.

Key Responsibilities:

Programming:

• Create and optimize 5-axis CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Siemens NX, CATIA, Fusion 360).
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD models.
• Determine tooling, cutting paths, feeds, and speeds based on material and part geometry.
• Run simulations and verify tool paths to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Maintain and document programs and revisions in accordance with company procedures.

Machining:

• Set up, operate, and monitor 5-axis CNC machines to produce high-precision components.
• Select and install tooling, workholding, and fixtures.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, CMMs, etc.).
• Adjust offsets, tool wear, and feeds/speeds as needed to maintain quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues related to tooling, materials, or programming.

Team Development and Leadership

• Facilitate team-building activities that align with quality objectives.
• Promote a culture of trust, accountability, and open communication.
• Build cross-functional teams for quality initiatives and corrective actions (e.g., CAPA, FMEA, internal audits).

AS9100D Compliance and Awareness

• Ensure team members understand their roles in maintaining AS9100D compliance.
• Provide or coordinate training on AS9100D principles, processes, and procedures.
• Help embed quality and risk-based thinking into day-to-day activities.
• Guide OCTL Team through the AS9100D and get AS9100D certification for the SPD Division

General Duties:

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety and quality protocols.
• Collaborate with engineers, quality control, and other machinists to improve processes and reduce cycle times.
• Document setup sheets, tool lists, and best practices for repeat jobs.
• Train or assist junior machinists as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in 5-axis CNC programming and machining.
• Proficiency with CAM software (Mastercam, Siemens NX, CATIA, etc.).
• Strong understanding of G-code and CNC machine operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and CAD files.
• Familiarity with a wide range of materials, including metals and composites.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mechanical skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates degree or technical certification in CNC machining or manufacturing technology.
• Experience in aerospace, Oil & Gas and defense industries.
• Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
