Quality Assurance Manager - Forestry- Africa

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to work with our experienced team to setup and lead our QA function, and improve QC/QA processes and procedures throughout the plywood manufacture process, with the overall goal of continuously improving the quality and consistency of our plywood products and reduce customer complaints

This role involves on-site assessments, staff training, systems review, and strategic input to align production quality with industry standards and customer expectations.

Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities:

• Establish the QA Function:
• Design and implement a company-wide Quality Assurance strategy from the ground up.
• Develop QA policies, SOPs, and systems aligned with regulatory standards and business goals.
• Set up quality management systems (QMS), including ISO or industry-specific certifications as needed
• Conduct a comprehensive review of current QC/QA processes and outcomes.
• Perform on-floor inspections, process audits, and product testing analysis.
• Identify process inefficiencies, deviations, or areas of risk.
• Recommend and help implement practical improvements or corrective actions, identifying priority actions and proposed timeline for implementation.
• Assess and refine existing quality checkpoints and sampling plans.
• Review raw material handling, manufacturing parameters, and final inspection protocols.
• Recommend cost-effective enhancements to ensure higher consistency and reduced rework.
• Evaluate existing QC/QA documentation, SOPs, and reporting systems.
• Recommend improvements or develop new standard operating procedures where needed.
• Support in aligning with ISO standards or customer-specific compliance needs, if applicable.
• Conduct hands-on training for QC staff and line operators on best practices.
• Foster a quality-first culture across the production and QA teams.
• Develop or update quality checklists and guides.

Reporting & Follow-up:

• Deliver a detailed end-of-visit report summarizing findings, recommendations, and action plans.
• Provide ongoing guidance remotely between visits (limited hours as agreed).

Customer complaints:

• Setup internal investigation procedure for complaints
• Review customer complaints and ensure preventative measures are implemented and evaluated
• ensure root cause analysis are completed for each customer complaints and communicated back through the sales team

Deliverables:

• Implement a fully functioning QA system including training, auditing and reporting
• Updated SOPs or checklists (as required)
• Staff training sessions and attendance records
• Summary of KPIs or metrics to be monitored over time
• Setup internal investigation procedure

Requirements:-

• Minimum 10 years of experience in quality control and assurance within the plywood industry.
• Strong understanding of industrial QA systems, root cause analysis, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems is preferred.
• Excellent communication and training skills.

Location:- Base Location Ghana and frequent travel to Sierra Leone
