Job Description:
The Senior Technician in Histopathology at Manipal Hospitals will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory procedures related to the preparation and analysis of tissue samples. The technician will assist pathologists in diagnosing diseases by preparing high-quality slides for examination, ensuring accurate staining, and maintaining laboratory equipment. This role requires expertise in histological techniques, as well as a strong understanding of laboratory protocols and quality control measures. The Senior Technician will also be responsible for managing lab inventories, documenting procedures, and adhering to safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Process and analyze biological samples, including tissue fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
- Work collaboratively with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to facilitate accurate diagnosis.
- Perform quality control checks on stained slides and monitor compliance with laboratory standards.
- Document all laboratory activities, results, and maintain accurate records.
- Train and mentor junior technicians and interns in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in histopathology and implement new techniques as required.

Skills and Tools Required:
- Strong knowledge of histology and histopathological techniques.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment, such as microtomes, cryostats, and automated slide stainers.
- Familiarity with immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is a plus.
- Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications and previous experience in a histopathology lab are highly desirable.
