VSAT Platform Engineer (7-10 yrs)

Title : VSAT Platform Engineer

Location : Chennai, India (Hybrid - Onsite)

Job Description :

Responsibilities :

- Perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of VSAT platforms to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.

- Monitor VSAT network performance using various tools and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.

- Configure and manage VSAT network parameters, including bandwidth allocation, link budgets, and Quality of Service (QoS) settings.

- Collaborate with network operations center (NOC) personnel to diagnose and resolve complex VSAT network problems.

- Implement and maintain security protocols and measures on the VSAT platform to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.

- Manage and maintain documentation related to VSAT platform configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

- Perform software and firmware upgrades on VSAT equipment as required.

- Collaborate with vendors and service providers for technical support and issue resolution.

- Participate in the planning and execution of VSAT platform expansions and upgrades.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards related to VSAT operations.

- Provide technical support and guidance to field technicians and other stakeholders.

- Develop and maintain scripting and automation tools to streamline VSAT platform management tasks.

Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical VSAT infrastructure.

Qualifications & Experience :

- BS/MA degree in engineering, computer sciences, IT, or similar

- 7+ years of experience in VSAT platforms like iDirect, Comtech, Gilat, Newtec, or others

- The 7 years must include the following areas of knowledge :

1. Experience of Satellite RF communications systems

2. IP protocols, TCP, UDP, RTP, routing protocols, and switching

- Strong knowledge of QoS and WAN optimization techniques including TCP acceleration, caching, and compression

- Basic experience with Unix system environment

- Certifications in one or multiple of the above-mentioned platform technologies or other industry certifications are preferred

- MEO satellite experience is a plus
