Job Description
- We are seeking a seasoned Senior Platform Engineer to join our growing infrastructure team
- You will be responsible for taking ownership of complex cloud infrastructure solutions, leading the design, implementation, and management of our platform built on GCP
- You will collaborate closely with developers, operations teams, and security professionals to ensure our platform is robust, future-proof, and meets the ever-evolving needs of the business
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and management of our GCP infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and containerization services (Kubernetes Engine)
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management
- Develop and implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems using GCP tools (Cloud Monitoring, Stackdriver) to proactively identify and troubleshoot platform issues
- Ensure the platform is highly available, scalable, secure, and compliant with industry best practices
- Stay up-to-date with the latest GCP offerings and advancements in cloud technologies
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
- Optimize the platforms efficiency and performance, ensuring cost-effectiveness
- Document infrastructure design, operations procedures, and best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience in system administration, DevOps, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years focused on GCP
- Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale cloud infrastructure on GCP
- In-depth knowledge of GCP services including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Monitoring, and IAM
- Proficiency with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Go
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
- Experience with container orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) a plus
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (eg, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning on GCP
- Experience with infrastructure security best practices and security automation on GCP
- Certifications in GCP technologies (eg, GCP Certified Professional Cloud Architect)
