Data Center Technician II (2-4 yrs)

Job Description :

We are seeking a hands-on and dedicated Data Center Technician II for a fully onsite role at a state-of-the-art enterprise data center facility in Rabale, Navi Mumbai. This position is an excellent opportunity for professionals looking to grow in a fast-paced, tech-driven infrastructure environment. You'll be part of a team responsible for ensuring high availability, operational continuity, and physical support of mission-critical data center systems.

The role is ideal for individuals with experience in data center operations, hardware troubleshooting, Linux OS support, and basic networking. The selected candidate will play a key role in maintaining server health, monitoring infrastructure, and ensuring system security, while also contributing to day-to-day deployment and decommissioning tasks in a structured environment.

This is a 6-month contract position with potential for extension based on performance.

Roles & Responsibilities :

- Perform rack installation, cabling, and server deployment activities across a range of operating systems (Linux/Windows).

- Monitor system and application logs for uptime, hardware failure, and security alerts using monitoring tools.

- Handle hardware troubleshooting, component replacement, diagnostics, and routine preventive maintenance.

- Support secure data handling, including data wipes, access control, and compliance with defined SOPs.

- Maintain documentation for hardware inventory, server changes, configuration logs, and cable layouts.

- Execute file integrity monitoring, security patching, and system hardening activities on a periodic basis.

- Interact with software and hardware teams to escalate issues and assist in debugging real-time problems.

- Perform physical tasks such as lifting/moving equipment, handling tools, and ensuring work area hygiene.

- Manage backup and restore processes using tools like rsync, SFTP, SCP and basic cloud environment interaction.

- Work in rotational shifts (including weekends and holidays with comp-off) as per operational needs.

Must-Have Skills :

- 23 years of experience in Data Center Operations, IT infrastructure support, or system administration.

- Strong hands-on experience with Linux OS (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS) troubleshooting, patching, and user/group administration.

- Basic to intermediate Networking knowledge TCP/IP, DNS, routers, switches, IP configuration.

- Exposure to LVM, partitioning, and system resource management.

- Familiarity with server rack handling, physical setup, cable management, and data center procedures.

- Comfort with physically demanding work, including lifting and working inside data halls.

Nice-to-Have :

- Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios, Cloudwatch, or equivalent.

- Basic exposure to AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments.

- Working knowledge of tools like YUM, RPM, Apache, FTP, SSH.

- Bash scripting and automation basics.

Additional Job Details :

- Employment Type : 6-Month Contract (extendable)

- Working Hours : 8-hour rotational shifts (5 days a week)

- Start Date : Immediate or 15-30 days max

- Comp-off will be provided for weekend/holiday work

- Bonus Plan : Applicable based on performance.
