About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically fluent Product Specialist to join our Strategic Solutions Team (SST). This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the foundation of innovative shared services and frameworks powering products across Deltek.
As a Product Specialist in the SST, you ll support Senior Product Management by managing the backlog for key shared service domains (AI, Framework & Platform, or Data Platform & Analytics). You ll ensure engineering teams have the clarity they need to execute effectively while collaborating with product teams across the company to drive adoption and gather feedback. Youll also play a critical role in ensuring a strong developer and product management experience for those consuming our services by overseeing documentation, training resources, onboarding, and support processes.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on turning high-level strategy into execution, excels in cross-functional collaboration, and brings a technical mindset to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Backlog Ownership & Execution
- Maintain the backlog for one or more services, ensuring work is well-defined and prioritized.
- Align deliverables with the roadmap and coordinate timelines with consuming product teams.
- Partner with the Senior Product Manager to break down initiatives into features and epics.
- Write concise user stories and acceptance criteria reflecting stakeholder and engineering input.
- Participate in grooming, reviews, and sprint ceremonies to deliver value quickly.
Adoption, Enablement & Support
- Ensure an excellent developer and product manager experience for consuming teams.
- Oversee creation and accessibility of documentation, training, onboarding, support, FAQs, and changelogs.
- Collaborate with product teams to drive integration, identify blockers, and ensure adoption success.
- Monitor usage metrics and work with PMs to enhance enablement and engagement strategies.
- Coordinate post-release support, including updates, bug triaging, and escalations.
Feedback Loops & Continuous Improvement
- Gather structured feedback and translate insights into backlog items.
- Identify pain points and inconsistencies across service usage.
- Recommend improvements to boost scalability, usability, and product alignment.
- 3+ years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, technical program management, or a related role in software.
- Solid understanding of software delivery processes and experience working with technical teams in Agile environments.
- Comfortable translating strategic direction into backlog items that drive execution.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives and aligning deliverables across multiple product teams.
- Proven ability to manage post-release support workflows and continuously evolve products based on feedback and metrics.
- Familiarity with technical products and overseeing the creation of enablement content for diverse audiences.
- Understanding of platform thinking and the dynamics of shared service delivery in a B2B SaaS or enterprise environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skillscapable of documenting clearly and collaborating across functions.
- Experience with backlog tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira) and working knowledge of APIs, AI, cloud platforms, or enterprise architectures is a plus.
- Intellectual Curiosity & Proactive Learning: Demonstrates a passion for understanding new technologies, continuously seeks to expand domain knowledge, and takes initiative to identify and address gaps without waiting for direction.
- Clear Communication: Able to translate technical work into business value and vice versa for different audiences.
- Execution Focus: Drives clarity and momentum in day-to-day product work with minimal oversight.
- Technical Fluency: Understands system-level tradeoffs and can converse effectively with engineers.
- Customer Focus: Sees internal product teams as key customers and advocates for their success.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Builds trust and alignment with engineers, architects, and product managers across the organization.
