Sr. GM / GM Structure Mill

Job Summary:

The Incumbent will be responsible for leading structural rolling mill operations with end-to-end responsibility for production, quality, equipment availability, and team performance. The role also ensures effective coordination with the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) for seamless billet supply, aligning production strategies with plant objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for enhancing operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, reducing conversion cost, and ensuring high-quality structural product output.

Key Responsibilities:

• To plan, lead, execute and control daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand and billet availability.
• Ensuring optimal utilization of man & material as well as monitoring of the product quality, yield and rolling efficiency.
• Troubleshooting mill breakdowns, coordinating maintenance activities and develop system to reduce the down time.
• Ensure proper availability of raw materials coordinating with the SMS unit for billet quality & chemical compositions of the supplied billets to the mill.
• Should plan production sequence in line with the heat schedules and CCM operations.
• Focus should be always on improvement initiatives in cost, quality, productivity & energy efficiency.
• Prepare & monitor the production & maintenance KPIs along with the downtime analysis and monthly report to the stake holders.
• Collaborate with the mechanical & electrical team to ensure maximum uptime.
• Fostering a performance-driven culture by setting clear KPIs and conducting regular performance reviews of the entire team to overcome the shortcomings.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory, safety & environment norms.
• Ensuring full compliance with BIS or any standard norms for customer specifications for structural products.
• To have a close coordination with the QA / QC team for mill certifications and audits along with documentation for ISO also.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in executing large-scale industrial or process plant projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership role on pellet or mineral processing plant projects.
• Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams, complex schedules, and large budgets.
• Deep knowledge of project management principles, construction practices, and industrial safety standards.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with project management tools SAP systems.
