Roles and Responsibilities

1. Product Strategy & Market Positioning

- Define and drive the mutual fund product strategy in alignment with corporate goals and investor needs.

- Identify gaps in the fund line-up and develop strategic roadmaps for new fund offerings (equity, debt, hybrid, thematic, sectoral).

- Benchmark products against competitors to maintain a competitive edge in terms of performance, cost, and innovation.

2. New Fund Development & Launch

- Lead ideation, feasibility studies, and business cases for New Fund Offers (NFOs).

- Partner with investment teams to define investment objectives, mandates, and positioning.

- Coordinate with legal, compliance, risk, marketing, and operations teams to manage SEBI (or local regulator) filings and launch readiness.

- Ensure timely execution of NFOs, including documentation, marketing, and operational setup.

3. Product Lifecycle Management

- Monitor performance, investor interest, fund AUM trends, and product profitability.

- Periodically assess fund relevance in the current market and regulatory environment.

- Drive product actions: mergers, renaming, repositioning, or closures of underperforming or redundant funds.

4. Regulatory Compliance & Governance

- Ensure all mutual fund products meet SEBI guidelines and other applicable regulations.

- Keep abreast of regulatory updates and assess product-level implications.

- Manage documentation such as SID (Scheme Information Document), KIM (Key Information Memorandum), and fund factsheets in coordination with compliance.

5. Sales Enablement & Distributor Support

- Provide training and product insights to the sales team and distributors (banks, IFAs, RIAs, platforms).

- Create and maintain compelling product literature, pitch decks, and competitive comparisons.

- Work closely with marketing to drive product communication and NFO campaigns.

6. Client Focus & Feedback Look

- Engage with large investors, distribution partners, and advisors to gather feedback.

- Incorporate investor feedback into product enhancements or innovations.

- Align product offerings with emerging investor preferences and risk appetites.

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Act as the central point of contact for all mutual fund product-related matters.

Collaborate with:

- Investment Team for portfolio strategy and performance alignment.

- Operations for fund launch and lifecycle support.

- Risk and Compliance for governance and control frameworks.

- Digital & Tech Teams for product digitalization or integration on platforms.

8. Analytics & Reporting

- Analyse fund flows, investor behaviour, channel performance, and product profitability.

- Generate actionable insights to optimize fund mix and align distribution focus.

- Use data for peer comparison, investor segmentation, and product innovation.

Preferred Background & Skills

- 10+ years of experience in mutual fund or asset management product roles.

- Strong understanding of financial markets, fund structures, SEBI regulations.

- Excellent project management, stakeholder coordination, and communication skills.

Qualification: MBA / CFA preferred.
