About the role:
The ideal candidate would be responsible for development of new firmware and maintenance/enhancement of existing firmware. Development includes development of application layer code, middlewares, peripheral drivers, interface files, services and complex drivers. You will
need to write, test and debug software. You are also expected to have a basic understanding of the product hardware.
Key Responsibility Areas:
1. Hardware Validation & Testing
Assist in bring-up and validation of BMS hardware across:
- Multi-master based BESS platforms
- 2W/3W systems with MOSFET-based switching
- 4-wheeler, truck, and bus systems with high-voltage contactor-based control
Use test instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, etc.) to validate:
- Gate drivers, CAN/RS-485, RTC, Flash, power supplies
- Dry contact inputs, DIH/DIL pins, contactor drive circuits, isolation monitoring
Execute and log Design Validation Plans (DVPs), maintain structured validation checklists, and continuously improve test coverage based on real-world issues
Gain exposure to BMS platforms aligned with industry-standard functional safety practices, including those targeting ASIL-grade reliability and diagnostics
2. Functional Test Jig (FCT) Support
- Operate and maintain production-level test jigs
- Assist in troubleshooting false failures and test inconsistencies
- Perform golden unit testing and support factory-level debugging
3. Failure Analysis (RCA)
- Perform first-level diagnosis of failed production boards
- Document and categorize failures under supervision
- Maintain failure tracking and resolution database
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain validation logs, RCA records, and component test summaries
- Help standardize test procedures and internal databases
5. Design Support
- Assist in schematic capture and block-level circuit design using Altium/ PADS professional
- Support component selection and parametric comparisons (FETs, diodes, Flash, etc.)
- Apply PCB design rules and partition power blocks for layout efficiency, safety, and performance
Required Qualifications:
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering Fundamentals
- MOSFETs Understand RDS(on), VGS(th), gate charge, SOA, and switching applications
- Diodes Schottky, fast recovery, Zener, TVS applications
- Contactors Coil drive, auxiliary logic, precharge sequencing
- Capacitors MLCC vs electrolytic, voltage derating, temperature behavior
- Resistors For sensing, pull-up/down, and power dissipation
- Sensors Basic selection principles for shunt, Hall-effect, NTC sensors
Tools & Techniques
- Use of oscilloscope, multimeter, power supply
- Comfort with probing power and communication circuits
- Understanding of the full PCB design flow:
- Schematic Footprint Layout DRC Gerber Bring-up
Ideal Educational Background
Preferred Qualifications:
You should have done following during college:
- Designed a custom PCB for power or embedded applications
- Selected real-world components (MOSFETs, diodes, regulators, sensors) using datasheets
- Built or debugged BMS
- Implemented or worked on CAN/RS-485 communication
- Participated in Formula Student, Robotics Club, Smart India Hackathon, or similar teams
- Hands-on with lab tools like oscilloscope, power supply, and multimeter
