Manager - Data Science (8-10 yrs)

Role Overview :

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager - Data Science to lead and grow our data science team in Hyderabad.

In this critical on-site role, you will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of innovative AI and machine learning solutions to address complex business challenges.

You will lead a team of talented data scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment, and will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to translate business needs into impactful data science initiatives.

Responsibilities :

- Lead and manage a team of data scientists, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and career development.

- Define the strategic direction for data science initiatives, aligning with the company's overall business objectives.

- Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of data science projects, from problem definition and data exploration to model development, deployment, and monitoring.

- Oversee the design, development, and evaluation of machine learning models, statistical analyses, and other data-driven solutions.

- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and scalability of data science deliverables.

- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business teams to integrate data science solutions into products and processes.

- Communicate complex data insights and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.

- Identify and evaluate new data sources and technologies to enhance our data science capabilities.

- Promote and implement best practices in data science, machine learning, and AI.

- Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning within the data science team.

- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI.

Skills Required :

Must-Have Skills :

- Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in Data Science with a significant portion in a leadership or management role.

- Strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning), and data mining techniques.

- Expertise in programming languages commonly used in data science (e.g., Python, R).

- Proficiency in working with large datasets and data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Pandas, NumPy).

- Experience with cloud computing platforms and their data science services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.

- Strong project management and organizational skills.

- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of data scientists.

- Experience in translating business problems into data science solutions.

- Strong understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).

- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

Should-Have Skills :

- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline.

- Experience with specific AI/ML domains relevant to Blend's services (e.g., Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, Time Series Analysis, Recommendation Systems).

- Experience with deploying and monitoring machine learning models in production environments (MLOps).

- Familiarity with ethical considerations in AI and data science.

- Experience with A/B testing and experimental design.

- Contributions to the data science community (e.g., publications, open-source projects)
