The Data Governance Officer will spearhead the implementation and enforcement of data governance policies, with a focus on deploying and managing the Global Data Repository (GDR).
This role involves managing legacy data migration, establishing master data standards, enforcing group data policies, and driving adoption across departments to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Data Repository (GDR) Implementation:
- Lead the rollout, configuration, and structuring of the GDR on Box across all business units.
- Ensure repository alignment with corporate data architecture and security protocols.
Data Migration Management:
- Plan, oversee, and validate the migration of legacy and structured/unstructured data into Box.
- Ensure accurate classification, folder hierarchy, and metadata tagging as per standards.
Data Governance Framework & Compliance:
- Enforce group-wide data governance policies, classification protocols, and access controls.
- Monitor data activities for compliance with regulatory requirements (GDPR) and internal standards.
Master Data Management (MDM):
- Define and maintain master data taxonomies, ownership models, and data lifecycle standards.
- Collaborate with business units to ensure consistency and stewardship of master data.
Policy Enforcement & Reporting:
- Track adherence to Group Data Policy and report violations or areas of non-compliance.
- Support internal and external data governance audits and ensure resolution of findings.
Stakeholder Engagement & Training:
- Work closely with Legal, HR, Finance, IT, and Business Units to embed governance into operations.
- Conduct training sessions, publish documentation, and facilitate user support as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Management, IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in deploying enterprise content management systems (Box, SharePoint).
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM.
- Hands-on experience with Master Data Management (MDM), metadata models, and taxonomy design.
- Familiarity with data protection laws and compliance standards (GDPR).
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to train, influence, and engage stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and drive initiatives with an ownership mindset.
