How to Deal with a Chatty Colleague?
Okay, so I have this colleague sitting right in front of me, and he doesn’t stop talking all day. I’ve tried putting on headphones, but this guy still waves his hands in front of my face like, “Oye Oye, ek baat sun !”
Leaving my desk isn’t an option because my work would suffer, and there’s no extra space in the office to relocate.
How do I politely deal with this without causing awkwardness or making it seem like I’m being rude?

Haha, headphones as a defense failed? Maybe try the classic 'one sec, I'm on a deadline!' excuse?

Pretend that you're on a call with someone. Put on earphones and speak something just to put a notion that you're on a call.

Omg, relatable AF...I once had a colleague like that. I ended up assigning them imaginary deadlines to keep them busy. Would that work here?

[an educator](username) i wish we are on the same level so assigning imaginary deadlines are not in my hand

Well, just say "Bhai, thodi der baad baat kare, abhi thoda kaam hai" everytime he is about to start talking. People who chat a lot don't like getting interrupted in between multiple times. Baar rokoge to apne aap bolna rok dega.

Bro life is too short to keep listening to others bullshit , if its impacting your work ,made him understand the hard way which he wouldn’t have imagined. Sometimes you have to be brutal.

Try using the method "Shaam, Daam, Dand/Bhed." Be straightforward and politely explain how his actions are impacting your work. If he still doesn't understand, then move directly to "Dand/Bhed." 😂😂😂

It's very easy just keep doing your work while he talks don't even look at him during convo and if conversation needs your response just ask him to repeat again 2-3 times. He will definitely get annoyed or get the hint and if he says please pay attention say sorry but I just need to complete this task real quick then we'll talk.
