Why so many recruiters are bad at their jobs?
It happens to me a lot. I get an email from a recruiter with just the job title and description. I replied, "Thanks, can you tell me the company name and salary?" Most of the time they tell me. But sometimes, they say things like, "It's a company in banking." I ask again, "Which company? And how much will they pay?" Why is it so hard for them to give me this simple information? And their follow-up is terrible. They don't even remember our conversation. It's ridiculous.

Wait until they try to recruit you for the company you currently work for. Same position and everything.

From my experience, the more vague they are about an opportunity, the bad it is

Because there are no jobs for them to recruit for? They can't do their job effectively when there's literally no jobs. A ton of people got laid off in the IT space. A ton of people just got laid off by gov. Jobs have been steadily moving outside the country for years. There's not enough jobs to go around
They are bad at their job because they're probably tired of sending people to apply and interview for jobs that don't exist. Companies make these job listings with ZERO intent on hiring anybody because they need to make it seem like they're growing. I'm sure the recruiter sucks, but the job market is worse. I'm willing to bet that recruiter job is the only one they could get, and they're seeing firsthand why that was.

Plus some of recruiting model is that they only get paid if the client accepts the candidate. So they just 1) spam cold calls and emails to increase their candidate pool hoping it will come useful in future, 2) spam resumes to client hoping they get called up for interviews.
