Working under an unsupportive/incompetent manager can never be satisfying. Managers need to understand and communicate with their employees to try and resolve work-related issues when brought to their notice. They must not throw their reportees under the bus in front of the top management to save their skin. The Incident: Two weeks into my new job, I faced an issue with an external agency, which was immediately brought to my manager's knowledge. There was no further communication from him at that time. Within an hour, he sent out a lengthy email keeping the top management in CC. The email claimed that *he came to know* about such an issue (I informed him of it) and that if this is not resolved, it could impede further progress (yes, I know, that's why I informed him!). And he ended the email by stating that I needed to take care of the said issue immediately (Okay. So I need to take care of an issue that I brought to your notice in the first place because I needed your opinion as I have literally worked 10 full days at the company! Wow)....Read More
