Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The test consisted of 60 questions for first section and 60 minutes, and 30 technical questions in 30 minutes. They almost asked questions from everything we study. You should have just basics to answer those questions; special preparation can barely help you. Over all the paper was not easy, not tough type.
Tips: prepare english finding errors  and reordering questions and focus on time and work and number system in aptitude. they asked technical questions on almost every section but mainly from  thermodynamics , fluid and refrigeration and air conditioning and machine design.prepare these topics well.
Duration: 90 minutes
Total Questions: 90

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There was a panel of 4 Hr's , they all sitting in front of us and after giving the topic they give us a minute to think and then start. we started the discussion but they are not satisfied and in between they said from one student tell the meaning of commercialization , and then we continued at the end they themselves said to one student to conclude the topic , that student did not speak in the group discussion .
Tips: according to me to clear the GD you have to remembered himself to the Hr's so you have to speak a logical points and in continuous intervals , first you should try to initiate the GD , and if you are unable to start then pic up very early , and then at least speak once in between and necessary to speak in last minutes of GD. don't one to one and try to make eye contact with everyone and sometimes slowly nodding of head on others points also helpful when you are not getting chance to speak.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: There was only one interview(Tech+HR) with a panel of four members. First thing I’ve got to say about my interview is that it is the best interview I’ve ever had they first asked me introduce yourself as a mechanical engineer .and I was so lucky on that day immediately they asked me my favorite subjects. I said Thermodynamics, i c engine and automobile engineering. then they start qustions from IC engines and they came to manufacturing processes and then they asked questions from machine design and rest of the questions from my resume they asked almost every point from my resume about my training many questions asked from my training and projects that i have done . and they asked some real life situations that can occur in companies like strike and other and asked me for give your decision at that situation and how you convince to employees , so they asked questions almost each subject and HR question too, they can ask anything from what we learn. I advise you to be good at all the fundamentals. Luckily I answered all the questions they asked me except one .I think the process is very fair. Exam was not difficult but can test your depth of knowledge. And my interview was very good. I was so lucky on that day, as I mentioned earlier. The overall process was good and I feel very proud to get in to HERO MOTOCORP ..
Tips: My first suggestion is always keep in touch with our subjects. Because when you go to an interview, they can ask anything. Simply preparing before placements will not help you. You need to have in depth knowledge about the basic fundamentals of everything you study. Most importantly Manufacturing Technology, Automobile Engineering and Machine Design.Learn speaking fluently in English. At times it matters a lot.One more noble suggestion is don’t create bad impression about yourself or the college. Maintain punctuality, be disciplined and etc. Each time you commit an offense the number of candidates they are going to recruit will decrease.

Round: Test
Experience: Technical test consisted of 27 questions in 30 minutes. Questions were easy but constraint of time is there. Aptitude test consisted of 50 questions in 30 minutes. Questions in aptitude section were of mixed difficulty.
Tips: Try to solve easy questions first to maximize the score. Out of 70 odd students only 12 were selected for further rounds.
Duration: 30 minutes
Total Questions: 27

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: It was a simple topic and everybody spoke without any hustle (which happens a lot in GD's). Observers were sitting in the corners and they told the shy ones to speak. GD ended in about 5 minutes and only two people were eliminated out of group of seven.
Tips: GD's are primarily done to check our command on language. Try to speak valid points and have a common conclusion in the end. People who mentor the group always get the benefit.
Duration: 10 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: It was a technical + HR interview conducted by a panel of 4 people. In the beginning we have to give a presentation for two minutes on a random topic given by them. After that I was asked to introduce myself. Then I was asked few questions related to my family background. They asked about one favourite subject from each candidate followed by few questions.Interview was on shorter side and ended in about 10 minutes. HR did not asked much questions. One person scanned the CV throughout the interview.
Tips: Have thorough knowledge of your favorite subjects (atleast two subjects). One should be well versed with automobiles. Training is important and questions are asked on that. One should have strong and clear fundamentals along with interest to work with them. All the best

Skill Tips: Have faith in your abilities and try to pace the interview along your interests.Be confident. Be happy. Test is very important with low selection rate. So, give it seriously. Good Luck.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was normal aptitude questions. technical questions were from a lot of fields and basicaally more concentrated on the thermal engineering and automobile section.
Tips: Prepare the aptitude well and finish them first. technical can take some time. Have a basic idea about the topics learned in the curriculum.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The questions were mosty abut my interests and my projects so far. Some Hr questions were also asked during the same time. Two interviewers were present and one of them was from the technical sde and the other from the hr. The interview lasted for around 20 minutes.
Tips: Be confident.Be true regarding your ineterests and paassions. Questions can be expected from how you present your replies.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: There is a MCQ test of about 40 questions I think in which half the questions are Mechanical Engineering knowledge while the other half is general and math aptitude. The main problem in this test is that there are negatives if you get the question wrong due to which you should tread very carefully. Here, I would like to note that the Mechanical Engineering part can be quite hard if you are unprepared. But the general aptitude questions, while not very easy, are nothing out of the ordinary. So, my suggestion would be to seriously attempt the aptitude questions andspend lesser time on the Mechanical Engineering questions.
Total Questions: 40

Round: Other Interview
Experience: Around 20 people are selected for the interview round from around 120 who write the test. There is only 1 round of interviews for Bajaj from which they take around 5 people (thesenumbers have remained about the same for a few years). The interview itself will be based onwhat area of Mechanical Engineering, as chosen by you, is your strength. Alternatively theymight quiz you on your summer projects. In my case however, almost the entire interview wasbased on my work in NITKRacing. And from my experience as well as from what I heard fromothers, being a part of any wing of NITKRacing is a big positive especially for Bajaj.

General Tips: Nothing much to say except not underestimate your chances of getting into the company in question. This confidence of yours could reflect in the interview.
Skill Tips: Some aptitude question a day or two before the test day could help shed some of the rust that you might have accumulated. As far as Mechanical Engineering knowledge goes, there is nothing much you can do in the last few days. You should either have an excellent memory or have been preparing for placements for quite some time.
College Name: NIT SURATHKAL
Motivation: Bajaj was the first company to come for placements for Mechanical Engineering students just a week after vacations. Hence there was barely any time to settle down and prepare in any way. Also, it has one of the shortest recruiting procedures with just 1 round each of interview and test. So, it all got over quite quickly for me to realize. But the one overwhelming experience was of anxiety, especially when you clear the test that you did not expect yourself to. If you got from 120 to 20 students unexpectedly, you are EXTREMELY anxious to get to that lucky 5 so that you don't have to go through all that again, which fortunately, is what happened.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: They clearly specified that they were looking for analytical ability to asses the situation and the way one leads/mingles with the group. They gave clear cut instructions viz; not to make it a fish market, try and analyze the topic well. Once the GD got concluded they said that they expected the discussion to touch the technical aspects more(the discussion revolved more around the political aspects)
Tips: For Duals & M.Techs (PGET profile) Everybody could sit for the GD directly
Duration: 20 minutes

Round: personality assessment
Experience: After the GD for the people who cleared it there was a Personality assessment test but it was not an elimination round. They gave a set of 50 words and asked to select the most appropriate words(qualities) that you want to see in others. And the same set of words were given again and asked to tick the qualities I possessed.

Round: Interview
Experience: Technical and HR interview.

20 min

For GET (b.tech) profile they were asking questions from SOM, IC engines etc; especially number (say the Ultimate tensile strength of mild steel) for PGET it was more about the Project, I have my DDP in IC engines so it was more about my project. I haven't done much work for DDp but i had to sell myself, so the night before interview i read a few research papers and got more clear about my project (I got feedback from Mtechs that the interview is gonna be about project). I explained the Tech guy about my DDP he asked a few questions about it. Again numbers are important, he asked what is the typical value of ignition delay, Define ignition delay for CI/SI engine. etc.
Tips: The interview was a mix of HR + tech which let you enough time to get comfortable, if you were fumbling in Tech, HT would step in with a question and vice-verse. For PGET they were looking for relevant projects or internship experience. I made sure that i mastered turbo machines and IC engines, the most asked thermal courses. Mantech and design courses i read initial few days of placements. But if you have proper material you can finish 2-3 courses per day.

General Tips: I failed in 3 interviews before Hero, so a deep introspection into the mistakes made helped a lot and for every interview I saw the previous years feedback I had no feedback for Hero so I searched for PGET hero Motocorp on a few social network sites and got help from seniors. Glassdoor feedback also helped. A start at an interview was really important, so i worked a lot on my HT answers as well as TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF. I framed my answers in a way the interviewer expects them to be.

DDp in relevant ffield, presence of mind, sense of humor, keeping things relevant even in GD. I just did the same that might have worked, and gen pseud I put like i have enthu in Automobiles and a bit of honesty helped, but it is important that you strike the right balance.

Initial shortlisting was completely based on GD and in interview if your project/intern is relevant the chances are more likely that you can get through.

I didn't throw away the hand written notes/xerox copies of core courses. Reading through them saves a lot of effort and time. I finished a major chunk of the thermal courses in the last week before placements and the first few days of the placements and gone through Mantech and Dom dome kdon etc. But you have to master a few courses and I Mastered Turbomachines, Man-tech and IC engines( these 3 were important for most of the companies ; dont neglect turbo)
