Deputy General Manager - Commercial Finance
Location: Bangalore
Reporting to: Head Commercial Finance
Job Purpose
To lead and streamline commercial finance operations across branches nationwide, ensuring financial compliance, operational control, inventory accuracy, and commercial enablement to support sales growth. The role will be instrumental in implementing best practices, reviewing team performance, driving system improvements, and ensuring statutory adherence while acting as a strategic business partner to multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Operations Oversight
- Supervise branch-level commercial finance activities and provide guidance to Zonal/Regional Commercial Managers.
- Conduct monthly branch review meetings to evaluate key parameters such as debtors, inventory, expenses, and scheme spend.
- Resolve branch-level issues by facilitating cross-functional coordination with Sales, Service, and Legal teams.
Process & Policy Governance
- Draft and publish policies and SOPs for critical commercial functions, ensuring standardization across zones.
- Drive adherence to processes uniformly across all branches and implement improvements as required.
- Review and improve audit compliance and address findings through actionable plans.
Inventory & Warehouse Control
- Monitor inventory across CFAs and conduct periodic physical stock audits as per company policy.
- Adjust variances in SAP after appropriate approvals; implement perpetual inventory systems across warehouses.
Budgeting & Expense Management
- Review and control operating expenses and scheme spends across retail and distribution channels.
- Ensure financial accounting of monthly branch-level operational expenses aligns with budgetary limits.
Statutory Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, and other statutory requirements across branches.
- Liaise with legal teams on ongoing and potential legal cases affecting the business.
- Mitigate financial and operational risks by implementing control systems and checks.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of zonal/regional commercial managers and branch executives.
- Assess performance, identify training needs, and build a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Visit branches quarterly to review team performance and branch health.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Chartered Accountant (CA)
Experience: Minimum 10 years in Finance & Accounts, preferably in FMCG/FMCD sectors with exposure to service center operations
ERP/System Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and SAP (preferred)
