Group Manager - IT Infrastructure/Operations (3-4 yrs)

Key Responsibilities :

Team Leadership & Mentorship :

- Lead, mentor, and motivate a small team of infrastructure engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.

- Assist in setting individual and team goals, conducting performance reviews, and identifying professional development opportunities.

- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure timely completion of operational activities.

Infrastructure Management :

- Oversee the proactive monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of server infrastructure (physical and virtual), networking components, storage systems, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).

- Ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of all infrastructure services.

- Manage and maintain configuration management tools and processes (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

Incident & Problem Management :

- Act as an escalation point for critical incidents, leading rapid response, troubleshooting, and resolution efforts.

- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventive measures to minimize future disruptions.

- Develop and refine incident response playbooks and escalation procedures.

Automation & Efficiency :

- Identify opportunities for automation to streamline operational tasks, reduce manual effort, and improve system reliability.

- Implement scripts and tools for automated deployments, monitoring, and routine maintenance.

Monitoring & Performance :

- Ensure comprehensive monitoring solutions are in place for all infrastructure components.

- Analyze performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to enhance system performance and scalability.

Security & Compliance :

- Work closely with security teams to ensure infrastructure adheres to security policies, industry best practices, and compliance requirements.

- Implement and enforce security patches, vulnerability management, and access controls.

Documentation & Reporting :

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all infrastructure systems, processes, and configurations.

- Generate regular reports on system health, performance, and operational metrics.

Vendor Management :

- Assist in evaluating and managing relationships with infrastructure service providers and vendors.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- 3 - 4 years of experience in IT infrastructure operations, with at least 1-2 years in a lead,

supervisory, or senior engineer role.

- Strong understanding of operating systems : Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS) and/or Windows

Server environments.

- Proficiency in Cloud Platforms : Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider

(AWS, Azure, GCP), including services like EC2/VMs, S3/Blob Storage, VPC/VNet, IAM.

- Networking Fundamentals : Solid grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Firewalls, Load Balancers.

- Scripting/Automation Skills : Practical experience with scripting languages such as Python,

Bash, or PowerShell.

- Monitoring Tools : Experience with monitoring systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix,

Nagios, ELK Stack).

- Version Control : Familiarity with Git and code management best practices.

- Problem-Solving : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach

to troubleshooting.

- Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate

technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Team Player : Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate

across departments.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Server+, ITIL Foundation).

- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.

- Understanding of ITIL framework and service management processes.
