API Automation Testing

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for RESTful APIs using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
• Develop and execute Kafka consumer and producer testing strategies to validate event-driven workflows.
• Create automation frameworks and enhance existing frameworks for API and Kafka testing.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and performance testing of microservices and Kafka-based applications.
• Collaborate with developers and DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines incorporating automated API and Kafka tests.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and work with the team to resolve issues.
• Monitor Kafka topics and validate message schema and payloads during testing.
• Develop test data and scenarios based on requirements and API contracts.
• Provide clear and concise test documentation and reports.
• Stay updated with the latest testing tools, Kafka ecosystem, and best practices.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in API automation testing, primarily with RESTful services.
• Strong experience with Kafka understanding of Kafka architecture, producers, consumers, topics, partitions, and schema registry.
• Experience writing automated tests for Kafka message validation.
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber, etc.).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript for automation scripting.
• Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, REST Assured.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
• Good understanding of microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of JSON, XML, and message serialization formats like Avro or Protobuf.
• Experience with version control tools (Git).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
