Position Summary :

Mastech Digital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced DataStage Lead to join our team in Chennai. This role is crucial for designing, developing, and optimizing robust ETL processes using IBM InfoSphere DataStage. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in database management, data warehousing methodologies, and will be responsible for leading technical efforts to deliver high-quality data integration solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

ETL Development & Leadership :

- Lead the end-to-end design, development, testing, and deployment of complex ETL processes using IBM InfoSphere DataStage.

- Oversee the development of ETL jobs, sequences, and routines to extract, transform, and load data from various source systems into target data warehouses/marts.

- Ensure ETL processes are efficient, scalable, reliable, and adhere to best practices and coding standards.

Database Management & SQL Optimization :

- Apply strong expertise in Db2 database management, including database design principles, performance tuning, and query optimization.

- Write, optimize, and review complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation within DataStage jobs and directly against databases.

- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues related to ETL processes.

Data Warehousing & Architecture :

- Leverage strong familiarity with data warehousing concepts and methodologies (e.g., dimensional modeling, Kimball/Inmon approaches, slowly changing dimensions).

- Contribute to the design and implementation of data warehouse solutions, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and usability.

- Understand data governance and data quality principles, implementing measures to ensure high data accuracy.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship :

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers within the team, fostering their growth and ensuring adherence to technical standards.

- Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and problem-solving sessions.

- Act as a subject matter expert for DataStage and related data integration technologies.

Performance Tuning & Optimization :

- Identify and implement performance tuning opportunities within DataStage jobs and underlying database queries.

- Monitor ETL job execution and system performance, proactively addressing bottlenecks.

Collaboration & Communication :

- Collaborate effectively with business analysts, data architects, source system owners, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

- Communicate technical designs and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications :

- Experience : A minimum of 8+ years of hands-on development experience in data integration, with significant expertise as a DataStage Lead.

- DataStage Proficiency : Demonstrated expert-level proficiency in IBM InfoSphere DataStage for ETL process development, including advanced features, parallel processing, and performance tuning.

- Database Expertise : Strong experience with Db2 database management and extensive experience in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for various database platforms (Db2, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.).

- Data Warehousing : Solid understanding and practical experience with data warehousing concepts and methodologies.

- SDLC & Methodologies : Familiarity with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

- Problem-Solving : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

- Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Availability : Immediate Joiners, Currently Serving candidates, or those with a notice period of less than 60 days will be given preference.

Good to Have :

- Experience with other ETL tools or cloud-based data integration platforms (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory) would be a plus.

- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python).

- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

- Knowledge of data governance and data quality frameworks.
