Database Administrator - PostgreSQL (3-5 yrs)

Key Responsibilities :

- Responsible for understanding operational requirements including hardware, architecting, configuring, integrating, and maintaining mission-critical Production PostgreSQL databases.

- Responsible for all backup, recovery strategies, Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR), and replication setup and management.

- Hands-on experience with community-supported tools like Pgbadger, Slony, PGadmin, Pgpool, Pgbouncer, barman, and similar utilities.

- Experience in setting up, configuring, and managing PostgreSQL clusters.

- Proficient in upgrading and migrating various PostgreSQL database versions.

- Perform database administration tasks, including user management, security configuration, and schema management.

- Demonstrate strong SQL query tuning hands-on experience to optimize database performance.

- Develop database automation scripts and maintenance tasks using Shell scripting.

- Setup and configure comprehensive database monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential issues.

- Implement and enforce robust database security measures to protect sensitive data.

- Optimize database resources, including memory, CPU, and storage, for optimal performance and cost-efficiency.

- Provide technical guidance and support for integration, testing, design, development, and planning of new production systems/databases.

- Contribute to improving and creating DBA policies, procedures, and standards to ensure best practices are followed.

Requirements :

- 3 to 5+ years of strong hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production environment.

- Proven experience in monitoring, managing, and maintaining mission-critical 24x7 production databases.

- In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL installation, configuration, and administration.

- Experience in implementing and managing high-availability solutions for PostgreSQL (e.g., replication, clustering).

- Hands-on experience in setting up and utilizing database monitoring tools.

- Strong understanding and practical implementation of database security best practices.

- Proven ability to optimize database resources and performance.

- Hands-on experience with Shell scripting for automation tasks.

- Strong SQL query tuning hands-on experience.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong communication and documentation skills
