Job Description

The Dean is responsible for the overall operation of the respective School. As such, they are Academic Administrators of major importance to the University and report directly to the Vice Chancellor / Pro Vice Chancellor for Academic affairs. The Dean has both the authority and responsibility for planning, budgeting, scheduling, personnel matters, curriculum, instruction, development and other Academic matters.
 
DESIRED SKILLSET:
  • Applicants should hold a PhD in the relevant subject from reputed Institutions like IIM, IIT, NIT from India etc and renowned foreign institutions.
  • Should have sufficient experience in Teaching, Industry & Research with reputed Institutions.
  • Should have research papers published in International / National Journals.
  • Should have books published and Scholars awarded / currently working for.
  • Applicants with patents registered / consultancy works carried out will be given preference.
  • Exposure in handling high-value funded projects will be an added advantage.
DUTIES:
  1. Develops, articulates, and presents the vision for the School. Translates this vision into strategic goals by developing a unit assessment plan related to the universitys Mission and Strategic planning objectives. Works collegially with conveners and School Faculty to ensure collaboration and successful implementation of the School s mission.
  2. Prepares reports, plans, and analyses to document and advance School activities, initiatives and development.
  3. Actively represents the School and the University to the students, parents, professional organizations, articulation partners, business and industry and other relevant constituencies. Provides curricular leadership in relation to university-wide goals by initiating, sustaining, delivering, or eliminating academic programs and school core curricula in accordance with strategic planning goals. Supervises conveners in the construction of timely class schedules based on student needs and institutional resources including advisement and registration.
  4. Develops new curriculum and reviews and revises existing curriculum with conveners and School Faculty, considering student needs; industry requirements and available resources; supervises program reviews; ensures successful accreditation; and facilitates activities at the unit level to seamlessly integrate unit goals with all-college goals. Ensures documented unit, program, and course assessment through the development of learning objectives, appropriate strategies, and feedback to ensure academic excellence and integrity of programs.
  5. Oversees Student Exchange Programs offered by the School as part of the curriculum. Mediates between Students, Faculty and Parents in legal and appropriate ways. Facilitates the resolution of disagreement or conflict between Faculty and Students.
  6. Supervises the administration of and ensures the academic quality of Study Exchange programmes and other special programs, facilities, centres, or institutes assigned to the school. Supervises the operation of labs and computer facilities in the school.
  7. Responsible for Human Resource Management of School Faculty and staff. Develops long-range staffing, enrollment, and market projections; recommends the appointment of appropriately qualified faculty and staff; renders timely, professional judgment on periodic evaluations, reappointments, tenure and promotion.
  8. Responsible for all fiscal matters at School level. Plans for, requests, and disburses operational, travel, and other funds legally, responsibly, and fairly within given budget limitations.
  9. Participates in University-wide strategic planning activities, as related to academic matters. Collaborates with Student Affairs, Institutional Advancement, and Administration and Finance Divisions and their various offices for School-alignment with all-University goals and activities.
  10. The Dean will establish linkages with reputed institutions and industries to facilitate cross fertilization of ideas, optimal utilization of physical and human resources and cooperative efforts in research and education.
  11. The Dean will act as Facilitator and a catalyst for external resource generation by the Faculty of the school through contact of MDP/FDP, funded Projects and Consultancy.
  12. The Dean is the custodian and overseer of the quality standards of education, research and value system within the school which should be in consonance with those of other schools. The Dean of a school should therefore work in close cooperation with the Deans of Other Schools, Dean (Academics), Dean (Academic Research), Dean (International Relations) and the Vice-Chancellor.
DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RESPECTIVE SCHOOL
EDUCATION
  • A Ph.d Degree in the appropriate academic discipline. A minimum of eight years experience at the equivalent of the Professor or Sr.Professor level in a higher education environment combining academic instruction research and administration.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of disciplinary/professional trends and higher education activities on the state, national and international level. Conversant in technological innovation in the discipline; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; collaborative approach to governance.
