A leading European pharmaceutical company with its Global Business Services (GBS) Centre in Bangalore is looking for a driven and analytical Product Portfolio Manager to join its Commercial Excellence Strategy function. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of product strategy, market expansion, and partnership developmentdriving the companys move into new therapeutic areas beyond anti-infectives.
Role Summary
As the Product Portfolio Manager, you will drive strategic initiatives to expand and optimize the product portfolio of the organization. The ideal candidate will bring a sharp commercial mindset, deep pharmaceutical industry knowledge, and a proven track record in business development or product strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement portfolio strategy for APIs and select FDFs in line with market trends and growth goals
- Drive new business development initiatives including licensing, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships
- Conduct market and competitive intelligence using internal tools and external data
- Contribute to corporate strategic planning on product and portfolio topics
- Build and maintain relationships with global pharmaceutical partners, manufacturers, and regulatory stakeholders
- Collaborate with R&D, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to support seamless execution of initiatives
- Develop financial models and business cases to support new product decisions and investments
- Ensure all initiatives align with regulatory and compliance requirements
Candidate Profile:
Education: Bachelor's or Masters degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related fields; MBA preferred
Experience: 4-8 years in product portfolio management, strategic partnerships, or business development in pharma
Domain Knowledge: Strong exposure to API and FDF segments; B2B experience in regulated and emerging markets
Advantage: Experience in anti-infectives is a plus, but knowledge across broader therapeutic areas is ideal
Skills:
- Strong business acumen and understanding of pharma commercialization
- Knowledge of licensing models, IP/patent strategy, and regulatory pathways
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- High analytical and communication proficiency
Travel: 10-15 days per year for business meetings and partner engagements
