If one is studying or preparing for something else, they can do it alongside work (for example: 1-2 hour daily).

Given that it's skewed towards middle aged crowd, it kind of is like a paralytic yet comfortable atmosphere. Very few people at that age have that drive, not celebrating it, but they have more things to think about and hence not as ambitious as the young crowd. Many people have transitioned from non tech to tech roles, where their business knowledge does add value but the learning curve gets a little bit off because of the time they'll take to catch up and the influx of already aware, young technical people. Like everywhere, some work is just for the sake of doing work. No doubt there are a lot of internal businesses for which people build, but it has to make sense and get listed on the chart too. Promotions do happen but not a regular, deserving time trend. Management matters, their budget matters, what your senior manager thinks matters....Read More
