  • Q1. Resume Questions. Discussion on current affairs. Specific sector based questions. Extremely basic questions on products which full-service investment banks work on
  • Q2. Probability and Modelling question - Guessing number from 1-64 and minimising number of tries for guessing it

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Puzzle Interview
Experience: It took me a while to figure it out. Most optimised method is to halving the range of numbers on each guess. Basically a variation of binary search
Tips: Prepare quant methods from Heard on the street

Round: Other Interview
Tips: Be ready for questions on why finance career, are you sitting for any other investment banking firm . It is important you explain to them your understanding on what derivatives are , what asset classes are. If you have background on economics /development theory you can talk about economy like recession,inflation and capital markets.

General Tips: Be very confident. The more you speak will make your interviewer to ask more questions about you. Also express genuine interest in finance by initiating conversation about market and economic current affairs . Be very frank if you do not have finance fundaes. Know what profile your sitting for- Very important.

Experience: I knew some financial terms through the net and I could talk about it to some extent but the interviewer was an expert and corrected me a few times which made me focus on following questions so that I could answer them to my full knowledge.
Tips: Be prepared for whatever profile you are applying for and be thorough if you want to talk about a certain topic in depth.

Skill Tips: Be sure of yourself and think aloud so that no mistakes are made when solving.

When HR’s Chinese English made me drop the interview!
So, I talked to the HR yesterday about the interview. I asked Please send me the location But their English… bro I was shocked! It was like talking to someone jisne english nahi kuch ar hi seekh liya ho, if the HR’s English is this I can only imagine the rest of the company I decided to drop the interview with this chinese english😶‍🌫️

Experience: They considered those with CGPA over 7 and looked for students who cleared CFA-I.

Round: Interview
Experience: They asked finance related questions (mostly Accounting questions, and any other expertise in finance you might have mentioned). Also, questions based on the resume too (projects, etc).
Tips: Preparing accounting fundae is beneficial, other courses like Infrastructure Finance (core course in my case) would help. Prepare for NCFM and CFA-I. These will surely help.

Round: Interview
Experience: Typical HR questions like your interests, strengths, weakness, etc were asked.
Tips: Don’t prepare for typical HR questions, that’s a blunder. My advice would be to start thinking and writing answers for HR questions, and just mug up those.

General Tips: Good CGPA always helps. Find out your interests very early, and put extra effort into those. Practice math like CAT questions, etc (even if you are not preparing for MBA), many companies have those tests.
Skill Tips: Started my preparations in August. Starting earlier might have helped, especially in HR round. (Don't prepare for typical HR questions, that’s a blunder).
