I appeared for an interview in Mar 2025, where I was asked the following questions.

  • Q1. What is the melting point of lead?
  • Ans.

Lead has a melting point of approximately 327.5°C (621.5°F), making it a relatively low-melting metal.

    • Lead is a heavy metal commonly used in batteries and radiation shielding.

    • Its low melting point allows for easy casting and shaping in manufacturing.

    • Lead's melting point is significantly lower than that of many other metals, such as iron (1538°C).

    • In its molten state, lead can be poured into molds to create various shape...

  • Q2. What is the temperature for adding 3.1% selenium?
  • Ans.

The optimal temperature for adding 3.1% selenium varies based on the specific production process and material being used.

    • Temperature Range: Typically, selenium is added at temperatures between 600°C to 800°C during metallurgical processes.

    • Material Consideration: The exact temperature may depend on the alloy or material being produced, as different materials have varying melting points.

  • Q2. What is surface tention
  • Ans.

Surface tension is the tendency of liquid molecules to stick together at the surface, creating a 'skin' that resists external forces.

    • Surface tension is caused by the cohesive forces between liquid molecules.

    • It results in the formation of droplets and the ability of insects to walk on water.

    • Surface tension can be reduced by adding surfactants like soap.

    • Measured in units of force per unit length, such as N/m or dyn/cm.

Why are women still asked such personal questions in interview?
I recently went for an interview… and honestly, m still trying to process what just happened. Instead of being asked about my skills, experience, or how I could add value to the company… the questions took a totally unexpected turn. The interviewer started asking things like When are you getting married? Are you engaged? And m sure, if I had said I was married, the next question would’ve been How long have you been married? What does my personal life have to do with the job m applying for? This is where I felt the gender discrimination hit hard. These types of questions are so casually thrown at women during interviews but are they ever asked to men? No one asks male candidates if they’re planning a wedding or how old their kids are. So why is it okay to ask women? Can we please stop normalising this kind of behaviour in interviews? Our careers shouldn’t be judged by our relationship status. Period.
