Senior Kotlin Software Engineer

• Responsible for Software Engineering implementation execution as a senior member on one team.
• Participate in all aspects of Engineering, including but not limited to qualifying product requirements, qualifying/understanding solution architecture, mentoring team on best software engineering practices with an emphasis on Kotlin, actively engaging in a high-functioning predictable team that continually ships quality code, etc.
• Work with the peer group to understand and communicate to the team the relevant standards for solution design, code, quality and dev tools.
• Learn the entire technology stack to become a Full-Stack Software Engineer over time.
• Collaborate with teams to support in-flight strategies and other roadmaps as required, such as Security, Cloud, Data, etc.
• Partner within the team to drive higher engineering maturity towards elevating DORA metrics that result in delivery predictability and quality.
• Partner with DevOps to articulate CI/CD requirements and own the team deployment process.
• Drive increased velocity of quality feature delivery through simplification and automation.
• Assist with transition to the new cloud environment via necessary architecture and platform changes.
• Mentor the engineering team with a focus on Kotlin.
• Write software solutions, automation tests, deployment configurations, and deliver them to production within CI/CD framework.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience
• Experienced / Mastery with Kotlin programming language
• Experience with Micronaut or Spring boot
• Proficient with Application monitoring, logging, tracing and instrumentation tools such as New Relic, Kibana, and Grafana
• Relational database schema design and SQL query experience, Postgres preferred
• NoSQL experience, DynamoDB preferred
• Experienced in Javascript/Typescript and frameworks, React preferred
• Experience with Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Prefer experience in AWS, Lambda, S3, SQS (or similar), Docker, ElasticSearch, Kubernetes
• Prefer experience with feature flagging (Flagr or similar)
• Prefer experience with Build systems and CI/CD (Concourse, Spinnaker, or similar)
• Prefer experience with Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi)
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and general problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Self-motivated and self-managing, able to proactively identify work, handle tasks, and complete work without supervision
• Driven, enthusiastic, self-starter, committed to improving the code and the product. Proactively refactors code beyond assignments, suggests process, feature, and UX enhancements
