Job Responsibilities :

As a Mainframe Developer within our Returnship Program, you will be responsible for applying your existing skills in designing, developing, and maintaining core Mainframe components. You will work on projects that leverage your expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, and MQ, contributing to the development and support of critical business applications.

- Mainframe Development and Maintenance : Utilize your proficiency to design, develop, code, test, and maintain Mainframe applications and components using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, and MQ, adhering to project requirements and coding standards.

- DB2 Expertise and Issue Resolution : Leverage your in-depth knowledge of DB2 to develop and maintain database structures, write efficient SQL queries, and troubleshoot and resolve database-related technical issues.

- COBOL Proficiency and Problem Solving : Apply your strong understanding of COBOL programming to develop new functionalities, modify existing code, and effectively diagnose and resolve technical challenges within COBOL-based applications.

- Collaborative Problem Solving : Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including analysts, testers, and other developers, to understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to effective solutions.

- Technical Communication : Effectively communicate technical information, both verbally and in writing, to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding of development processes, issues, and resolutions.

- Technical Documentation : Contribute to the development and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, program documentation, and operational procedures.

- Code Reviews and Feedback : Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to standards, and identify potential areas for improvement. Provide constructive feedback to team members.

- Independent and Team Work : Demonstrate the ability to work independently on assigned tasks while also being a collaborative and supportive member of the team in a hybrid work model.

Key Skills and Experience :

- Proficiency in Mainframe Technologies : Solid hands-on experience (3+ years prior to career break) in designing, developing, and maintaining Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, and MQ.

- In-depth DB2 Knowledge : Strong understanding of DB2 database concepts, SQL programming, and experience in resolving DB2-related technical issues.

- Strong COBOL Skills : Proven ability to develop, debug, and maintain COBOL programs.

- Problem-Solving Abilities : Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.

- Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.

- Documentation Experience : Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation.

- Code Review Participation : Ability to participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
