DEME - Data Specialist - Python/Power BI (3-5 yrs)

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Specialist with 3+ years of experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of our data assets. This role involves working closely with various departments to collect, process, analyze, and manage data, supporting critical business decisions and strategic initiatives. You will be responsible for maintaining data quality, developing reports, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our data management practices.

Key Responsibilities :

Data Collection & Sourcing :

- Identify, collect, and consolidate data from various internal and external sources, ensuring data completeness and relevance.

- Collaborate with business units to understand data requirements and assist in defining data collection methodologies.

Data Cleaning & Transformation :

- Perform rigorous data cleaning, validation, and standardization to ensure high data quality and integrity.

- Identify and resolve data discrepancies, inconsistencies, and errors.

- Transform raw data into usable formats for analysis and reporting using scripting and ETL tools.

Data Management & Governance :

- Maintain and update databases, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.

- Implement and adhere to data governance policies, standards, and procedures.

- Support the development and maintenance of data dictionaries and metadata.

- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and internal security

policies.

Data Analysis & Reporting :

- Generate standard and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support business insights.

- Conduct basic data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.

- Assist in translating data findings into actionable insights for stakeholders.

Process Improvement :

- Proactively identify opportunities for data process optimization and automation.

- Contribute to the documentation of data processes, workflows, and best practices.

Collaboration & Communication :

- Work cross-functionally with IT, Business Intelligence, Marketing, Sales, and other teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions.

- Communicate data-related issues, findings, and recommendations clearly to technical and

non-technical audiences.

Qualifications :

Required :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a Data Specialist, Data Analyst, Data Steward,

or similar role.

- Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating large datasets.

- Experience with data cleaning, data validation, and data transformation techniques.

- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot

tables, advanced formulas).

- Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).

- Proven ability to work with large, complex datasets and maintain a high level of accuracy and

attention to detail.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and a logical approach to data challenges.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with

diverse teams.

Preferred :

- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.

- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python for data manipulation and

automation using libraries like Pandas).

- Experience with ETL processes and tools.

- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Data Lake).

- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.
