McAfee is a great brand and has some amazing products. They are generous in giving compensation and other benefits. However, eventually all boils down to two things 1. Which project/team you are working on and 2. whom are you reporting to. If these two things are good then rest are just bells and whistles. I hope you agree with me. There are some really high quality engineers who have vast experience and they are very helpful. One needs to have really good etiquette and email writing skills as well because you will have to interact a lot with people from other cultures and geographies. Really premium company. But a lot depends on particular team and manager. But, world class engineers and world class products. Had a positive experience.

Dislikes

If a new resource is getting absorbed in old project, then it will take some time to understand that project. Some people may not like the fact that they came for McAfee brand and then deputed to a legacy project.

Work life balance is good but during certain weeks, you could end up working 70 hrs a week. The job is secure at lower levels

Dislikes

The upper management changes constantly. For the 3 years I have been here, I have seen 2 CEOs change, 2 enterprise VPs change, seen the company go from private to public to private again, seen 10 people leave a team of 20. Another point of frustration is that even though you work hard, you are never duly compensated; all the benefits stop at the management level. As far as technical innovation is considered, there are teams that don't have a CI/CD pipeline, the teams that still use legacy softwares. The innovation is really at the researcher level, not as a SDE. McAfee as a whole truly embodies the quote "Jack of all trades, master of none". Benefits are equivalent to a joke. At a time when several top companies made sure the transition to WFH was seamless during lockdown, McAfee did the opposite, at the height of the virus spread, it called people to the office to collect their equipment and if you were in another city then you had to buy the monitor, chairs and forget about reimbursement. There's no HR allowance, food allowance, wifi, etc., There's no benefits section in my offer letter actually. The HR people are the worse, you ask a query, they will tell you to contact management and you ask management , they will tell you contact HR. But but they are the ones smiling all the time when you are suffering because of them. This is still less about what I have written. I can write a book....Read More

Sometimes work life balance is a bit skewed because of weekend activities being assigned. But this happens once a quarter and employees are notified ahead of time.

Joined during pandemic so have not had the chance to actually go to work, since its been WFH. The on boarding process was smooth and KT was also done effectively. Enough time was given for orientation.

So much work pressor and if you stuck somewhere then nobody will help you and it will impact your performance so don't join specially CIP Team under Raghwendra Manager if your performance is low with 6 month even you are WFH then they will force Resign
