Fun place to work, good colleagues, can wear any kind of clothes, can work from home without actually working.

Dislikes

Management team, no guidance, no support, no learning, poor training programs, kids in the HR team with no maturity, becomes a government office as in fans are used because AC not working and the environment becomes sweaty, difficult to work, senior managers sleeping in meeting rooms, staff breaching processes, management always fools top team and does not give them real picture.

The company is UK based. The best part is timing is flexible although you need to be in office for core working hours.

Dislikes

Packt focuses on publishing without focusing on improving their processes. There are lot of hollow talks on improvement. Very few people are really keen on producing something worthwhile.

The best thing is the work culture of the company and flexible timing. And if you are fortunate then the the best team members and colleagues to work with to help and motivate you in the company.

Dislikes

There is no job security anytime anyone can leave or be removed. The growth of salary and career is quite slow which can be worked on.

One can maintain a very good work life balance being at Packt and also learn managing ones work. But that can be done in a much better way at some other company as well. This is a Technical publishing company, so if someone is thinking about going here and learning Technical stuff, then this a big no no for a technical editor. Yes highly recommended for someome who wants to be a manager or something as such, and should obviously apply for a project manager....Read More

Dislikes

The company has a very poor pay for the technical editors and even if you work hard, still you cannot earn a promotion within a years time. Earning a promotion will take more than 1 and a half or may be 2 years and even after getting a promotion you wont get a good salary in the end because the company doesn't expect people to stay here for more than a year. Even if you leave no one will try to stop you and its not the right place to be. Yes you can have a good work life balance but what will you do of such work if you cant learn or earn anything. Also none of the other companies accept experiences of this company as this is a publishing company and no web development or app development jobs will consider your experience from here. People try to be professional here but I think people here are BPO sort of employeess. So I dont recommend this company at all for the one's who are looking for a career in the technical field. The word Technical is a scam!...Read More

Low career Opportunities and no compensation and career growth. Low salary growth too and no respect to the executive. The company management only thinks about the numbers of titles instead of the quality. Every time a new process change disturb the working process the TLS system is if no use. The management does not prototype the process before bringing it up.This disturbs the whole pipeline and also the work environment.Hope management thinks on it....Read More

- Good colleagues to work with. - Receiving bonus every 6 months is the best thing. - Also the flexible working hour is a plus point.

Dislikes

- Low to almost NO salary hike. - Only 1 - 2% yearly salary growth is provided for COL (cost of living). - Sometimes I have to work for additional hours and the efforts are not taken into consideration. - NEVER apply for any job role into production category (ie. Layout Coordinator, Graphics Coordinator, Indexer), you will have to work like donkeys. NO SMART WORK, WORKING HARD FOR SIMPLEST THINGS JUST BECAUSE OF THE TOP TEAM ! - Manager does not value unique strengths, so had less growth opportunities. - Too much of favoritism and partiality....Read More

The only advantage working at Packt is flexi working hours, self learning and opportunity to work with skilled external entities like authors , tech reviewers etc.

Dislikes

There are no career or growth prospects for experienced professionals. Meager pay and unskilled Managers who have never worked with any IT company (including the senior management). Ironically the company neither uses any IT tools for research nor employs skilled IT professionals despite being a knowledge solution provider for the IT industry. That is another reason why managers at any level do not welcome innovative ideas to help improve systems or self learning systems....Read More

It is said that people work for people in any organization. The attrition rate is quite high which validates the above fact because there are no such managers at any level who can provide sensible guidance to executives. Earns you enough to pay bills !
