Interview Preparation Tips

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - I didn't prepare for the interview, one my friends forwarded my resume to the hiring manager & immediately I got done with the 1st round.
Next day was the HR round and then after a few days of front & backs we finalised on a offer.

My personal advice to job seekers would be to keep Moneycontrol or infact any company under network 18 as a last resort to join because even though they have good brand name their working culture is horrible and they have high attrition rate.

Sharing a few pros & cons -
Pros -
- Good Benefits like Group family insurance, term life insurance & accident insurance.
- PLI (Performance linked incentives)
- Fuel Reimbursement
- In house cafeteria
- Leave Encashment (this is only when you join and your Privilege leave comes into effect which does happen after a year)
- R University, they have internal tie ups with major universities for distance learning courses, MBA programs and certifications on Coursera.
- HR also holds L&D sessions which you need to book and inform your respective departments HR & Manager about attending those sessions.

Cons
- Aks for a JD as the HRs of Network 18, do not offer JD to prospects, as that would limit their role and activities while working. If they don't give a JD rethink your decision to join that department.
- Since they claim to be a news channel, extension of shifts are a regular thing. You'll login at 9 am but you'll continue working post your 9 hr shift time (probably like 12 hrs)
- Some teams have rotating shifts so you will be expected to work on weekends & holidays but you will be given a comp off for that.
- In case of an event, breaking news, budget or elections or any other significant event, some teams are required to login despite have approved leaves.
- The Group Term Life Insurance, Medical Insurance, Accidental Insurance & PLI are all manipulated in your CTC. The company doesn't shell out anything extra (This is the case with most Indian MNCs). So this structure brings down your in hand CTC by a good 7-9k. If your CTC is 6.5 Gross in the offer letter, your net would be 5.4 approx. (Fixed) The remaining are the variables.
- I've heard rumours that increments too are not that great just a mere 5-7% for all your efforts.
- Since they claim to be a news channel, they might expect you to be available 24*7 in case of a major story break or any other event.

Indian Startups

a senior executive
One of the best sources for Startup investment: DAHEJ(DOWRY)
You won't believe my senior has a good corporate job with over 10 years of experience. But suddenly resigned just a few days after his wedding. We all thought maybe he got married and wants to spend his time with his wife, and decided to go to his place to give him a proper farewell. All of us got shocked after knowing that he left because his father-in-law gifted him a fat cash amount and a car in the name of "blessings." He’s using the money to fund his startup and the car for "business movement." I mean seriously? People are now using dowry as startup capital and walking around acting like CEOs, playing boss with someone else’s money. Bas, shaadi karo aur apne sapne chalu karo, courtesy sasural. I don't know feeling inspired? Or disgusted?
