Job Title: Sales Leader - Distributor Appointment & Channel Development.
Department: Sales.
Location: Mumbai /Gurugram.
Reports To: Head of Sales.
Job Summary:
The Sales Leader - Distributor Appointment & Channel Development is responsible for identifying, appointing, and developing a robust distributor network to drive sales and market penetration.
This role plays a critical part in expanding the company's footprint by building efficient and productive distribution partnerships, ensuring sales targets are met through effective territory planning, onboarding, and channel management.
Key Responsibilities:
Distributor Appointment & Onboarding:
- Identify and evaluate potential distributors in target markets or regions.
- Conduct due diligence and negotiate commercial terms, pricing structures, and agreements.
- Facilitate smooth onboarding, training, and integration into the company's sales ecosystem.
Channel Development & Sales Growth:
- Develop and implement strategies for channel expansion and sales volume growth.
- Set and monitor sales targets for distributors and provide necessary support.
- Ensure consistent supply, pricing, and promotions through distributors.
Market Penetration & Territory Planning:
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.
- Plan territory coverage to maximize distribution effectiveness and sales.
- Identify gaps in market presence and take corrective actions.
Distributor Relationship Management:
- Maintain strong relationships with distributors to ensure high engagement and loyalty.
- Resolve distributor issues promptly related to logistics, credit, or product availability.
- Conduct regular business reviews and performance evaluations.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure distributors adhere to company policies, credit terms, and brand guidelines.
- Provide accurate and timely sales reports, forecasts, and market intelligence to management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Sales, or related field.
- MBA preferred.
- 6-10 years of sales experience with a focus on distributor/channel sales.
- Proven track record of appointing and managing distributors across territories.
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with CRM, ERP systems, and sales analytics tools.
- Willingness to travel extensively within assigned regions.
Preferred Skills:.
- Industry-specific experience (e.g , FMCG, pharma, consumer durables).
- Knowledge of market distribution models.
- Exposure to working in high-growth or emerging markets.
