Mainframe Developer (7-10 yrs)

Position Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mainframe Developer to join our dynamic IT team in Chennai.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise applications on the IBM Mainframe platform.

If you are passionate about legacy systems and have a strong command of COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS DB/DC, and VSAM, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical business systems within a high-performance team.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, code, test, and debug complex mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and related technologies.

- Create and manage batch processing jobs using Job Control Language (JCL).

- Develop and maintain online programs using IMS DC, and manage hierarchical data using IMS DB.

- Use VSAM and DB2 for data definition, access, and manipulation.

- Modify and enhance existing applications based on changing business requirements or production issues.

- Analyze business requirements and functional specifications to design robust technical solutions.

- Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and project managers to ensure deliverables meet quality and performance expectations.

- Document system components, designs, processes, and coding standards.

- Integrate Mainframe applications with downstream systems and data interfaces.

- Optimize code for performance, ensuring efficient CPU and memory usage.

- Perform unit, integration, and system testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT).

- Provide ongoing production support and issue resolution for deployed mainframe applications.

- Investigate and resolve errors, data issues, and performance bottlenecks.

- Participate in on-call support rotations when required.

Primary Skills Required :

- Mainframe Technologies : IBM Mainframe (z/OS environment)

- Programming : COBOL (both batch and online)

- Job Control : JCL (Job Control Language)

- Databases : IMS DB/DC, DB2 (SQL & Stored Procedures)

- File Systems : VSAM (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS)

- Tools : TSO/ISPF, Endevor, Abend-AID, File-AID, Xpediter (preferred)
