About the Job :

We are seeking a skilled and experienced SQL DBA with 4-9 years of hands-on experience to join our dynamic database administration team.

You will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and performance optimization of our critical SQL Server environments.

Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the availability, integrity, security, and optimal performance of our database systems, supporting our business-critical applications and data needs.

Responsibilities :

- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances and databases across various environments (Development, Test, Staging, Production).

- Implement and manage database security measures, including user access control, permissions, and data encryption.

- Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability and business continuity.

- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning techniques, including query optimization, index management, and server configuration adjustments.

- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance degradation, connectivity problems, and data corruption.

- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.

- Implement and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions (i.e., Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping).

- Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting languages (i.e., PowerShell, T-SQL).

- Perform capacity planning and forecasting for database growth and resource utilization.

- Develop and maintain database standards, policies, and procedures.

- Collaborate with development teams to provide database design guidance and optimize database interactions within applications.

- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.

- Document database configurations, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

- Ensure compliance with relevant data governance and security policies.

Required Skills :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- 4-9 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.

- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server architecture, features, and administration tools.

- Strong proficiency in T-SQL for querying, scripting, and automation.

- Extensive experience with database backup and recovery strategies and implementation.

- Proven ability to monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server performance issues and implement effective tuning techniques.

- Experience in implementing and managing high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.

- Solid understanding of database security principles and best practices.

- Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell for automation tasks.

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with cloud-based SQL Server offerings (i.e., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS for SQL Server).

- Knowledge of other database technologies (i.e., MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL).

- Experience with database monitoring tools (i.e., SolarWinds, SentryOne).

- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.

- Relevant Microsoft certifications (i.e., MCSA: SQL Server, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics).

- Experience with performance tuning and optimization at the operating system level.

- Knowledge of ITIL framework and change management processes
