Head - Engineering (Fixed Term Contract)

About the role:

• Responsible for the operational leadership of the engineering function and the team of Senior Engineers for the Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) production facility project. This role shall ensures lead, drive and oversee the engineering activities for the project conducted by Clients appointed Engineering organisation. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in leading a team of functional experts comprising mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, material handling, water & utilities, modularisation and process engineering.
• Ensure adequacy, availability, and reliability as well as optimised and efficient systems across all plant areas
• Provide guidance and lead the team to carry out design validation, code compliance and design integration, engineering review, procurement activities through vendor offer reviews and recommendations and interface with the project engineering firm and internal stakeholders to manage end-to-end activities.

Role & responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the engineering team responsible for co-ordinating with the engineering Organisation appointed by the Client.
• Coordinate and follow up daily activities and milestones of Engineering Company.
• Conduct regular reviews with team and stakeholders to ensure quality and time bound deliverables
• Escalate non confirming performance and quality topics to Mesabi management
• Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with the project objectives
• Ensure adherence to agreed schedule of deliverables
• Anticipate, flag and make mitigation plans in advance in case of schedule deviations
• Contribute towards effective and timely resolution of technical challenges arising during engineering
• Provide leadership in troubleshooting and optimizing engineering activities and Quantities.
• Ensure that Engineering is in line with the Procurement strategies of the company.
• Ensure adherence to Design standards applicable at location of Construction.
• KPIs- Quality, Schedule and optimisation

Preferred candidate profile:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering
• 30+ years of experience with at least 10 years in a senior engineering leadership role in steel, chemical, or oil & gas plants.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Experience in team building O&M planning, redundancy strategies, and cost optimization

Contract Terms:

• Contract Duration: 2 years, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.
