DGM / Senior Manager - Geologist (Mauritania - Northwest Africa)

Role Summary:

Geologist Profile will be responsible for conducting exploration activities in accordance with international standards, including JORC 2012, UNFC, and other relevant global frameworks. The role requires hands-on experience in exploration operations, resource assessment and modeling, as well as pit design and optimization, specifically related to the extraction of hematite ore. Key responsibilities include analyzing exploration databases, conducting geological assessments, demonstrating geophysical interpretation skills, supporting mine planning processes, and ensuring accurate resource modeling and orebody delineation. The Geologist will play a crucial role in promoting safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Exploration Planning & Execution:

• Conduct geological exploration programs in line with international standards such as JORC 2012 and UNFC.
• Design and implement exploration strategies to evaluate hematite ore deposits.
• Supervise field teams during geological mapping, sampling, trenching, and drilling activities.

Geological Data Management & Interpretation:

• Compile, manage, and analyze geological and geophysical datasets using industry-standard software.
• Interpret geophysical survey results to guide exploration and delineate orebody boundaries.
• Maintain and update geological databases ensuring data integrity and consistency

Resource Evaluation & Modeling:

• Conduct 3D geological modelling and resource estimation using tools such as Vulcan, Leapfrog, or similar. (must having Individual capable to handle Estimation)
• Classify mineral resources in accordance with JORC 2012 and other relevant frameworks.
• Prepare technical reports including resource statements and exploration results.

Pit Design & Mine Planning Support:

• Collaborate with mine planning engineers to optimize pit designs based on geological data.
• Support the development of mineable reserves and provide inputs for short- and long-term mine planning.
• Validate pit models to ensure alignment with orebody geometry and resource estimation.

Compliance & Reporting:

• Ensure all exploration and resource estimation activities comply with statutory and international reporting requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of geological documentation for regulatory submissions and internal audits.

Environmental and Safety Compliance:

• To ensure geological activities comply with environmental regulations, MSHA & Global Mining safety standards, and company policies.
• To monitor environmental impacts related to Mineral exploration and mining activities, recommending mitigation measures when necessary.
• To implement best practices in geological sampling, data collection, and safety procedures.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

• To work closely with mining engineers, environmental scientists, and other technical staff to integrate geological data into mine planning and operational activities.
• To liaise with external contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies for exploration, drilling, and resource estimation tasks.
• To assist with community engagement efforts to ensure responsible and sustainable mining practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education and Experience

• Masters degree in Geology or Applied Geosciences is preferred.
• 10 to 20 years of experience in the mining industry, specifically in iron ore, hematite, or open-pit mining.
• Knowledge capable to handle Individually Mine Modelling Software is Must and Desirable.
• Proven experience with resource modeling, geological mapping, and exploration activities.
• Experience working with geological software (e.g., Surpac, Leapfrog, Geovia, ArcGIS).
• Strong understanding of geological principles, mineralogy, petrology, and structural geology.
• Experience with geological modeling, resource estimation, and geological software tools.

Certifications (Optional):

• International Membership such as AusIMM, SAIMM or CIM and any other Registered Professional Mining Engineer (preferred).
• Certifications in safety and environmental compliance are plus.
