Interview Preparation Tips

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - I'm not writing this to defame the company but only to help the new generation hoteliers with reality check. It is better to go to a hotel rather than workig in these kind of retail companies who play with your potential.

- High Work Pressure: Every centre manager is made to work 2x normally and sometimes 3x of the proportion of their salary drawn. This means if they are paying you 40k, then they will make you work equal to two employees of same salary.

- Sales in non sales departments: There is a great pressure of sales in each department namely Operations & IT. In Operations there is a centre sales target called ASR. These targets are not in your KRA as per agreement but if you don't achieve them you can be fired. In IT there is an IT ASR.

- Mental Pressure: I joined this company for I wanted no physical Pressure and good working hours. Here working hrs is only 8.5hrs but there are a lot of things you need to handle at a centre which will not let you mentally free even at home. Even after working hrs you will be trying to sort the works for next day and ASR.

- Fake valuation: As you might have known about Buyjus, similar is the case of Awfis. They get the valuation and investments on the basis of the amount flowing through their bank account. Eg- if you borrow ₹100 from 1 person and give it to 2 person. Now that 2 person returns the money with ₹10 interest, so you return ₹105 to 1 person and keep ₹5. Similarly the company is earning only ₹5 but drawing investments by showing ₹110 as their earnings.

- Favourism: there is a lot of it in the higher management. Even I was favoured by my senior manager only because I used to butter a lot. At the same time, a person who is simple was not even noticed by the management.

- As an Operations Trainee you can only be working in the Coworking industry which has very less job opportunities. Your hikes will only be in hands of counted companies in the market. I have seen many operation managers working in same company for more than 3 years and not getting jobs anywhere else.

Lastly for all graduate hoteliers, please choose your company not on the basis of offered salary, but on the basis of industry and its KRA. Do a thorough research on the profile and company you will be joining. Your first job is the industry you'll have to stick to, until you take a seriously difficult step to change the industry/department of your work.
