An Assistant Trainee Engineer was asked 1w ago
Q. What is Pascal's Law?
Ans.

Pascal's law states that pressure applied to a confined fluid is transmitted undiminished in all directions throughout the fluid.

  • Pressure is defined as force per unit area.

  • In a hydraulic system, applying pressure at one point results in equal pressure at all points.

  • Example: Hydraulic brakes in vehicles use Pascal's law to amplify force.

  • Example: A hydraulic lift can lift heavy objects using a small force applied ov...

Q. What is the difference between shear force and bending moment?
Ans.

Shear force is the internal force in a beam, while bending moment is the internal moment that causes bending.

  • Shear force acts perpendicular to the beam's axis, causing sliding between sections.

  • Bending moment is the internal moment that causes the beam to bend.

  • Example: A simply supported beam with a point load in the middle experiences maximum shear at the supports and maximum bending moment at the center.

  • Shear for...

Q. What is Pascal's rule?
Ans.

Pascal's rule states that in a triangle of binomial coefficients, each number is the sum of the two directly above it.

  • Pascal's rule is used to derive binomial coefficients.

  • It can be represented in Pascal's Triangle, where each entry is the sum of the two above it.

  • Example: In row 4 of Pascal's Triangle, the values are 1, 4, 6, 4, 1, where 6 = 3 + 3 from the previous row.

  • This rule is fundamental in combinatorics and...

Q. What is the difference between Cp and Cpk?
Ans.

Cp measures process capability, while Cpk measures process capability adjusted for centering.

  • Cp is calculated using the formula (USL - LSL) / (6 * standard deviation), where USL is the upper specification limit, LSL is the lower specification limit, and standard deviation is the process standard deviation.

  • Cpk takes into account the process centering and is calculated using the formula min((USL - mean) / (3 * stand...

Why are women still asked such personal questions in interview?
I recently went for an interview… and honestly, m still trying to process what just happened. Instead of being asked about my skills, experience, or how I could add value to the company… the questions took a totally unexpected turn. The interviewer started asking things like When are you getting married? Are you engaged? And m sure, if I had said I was married, the next question would’ve been How long have you been married? What does my personal life have to do with the job m applying for? This is where I felt the gender discrimination hit hard. These types of questions are so casually thrown at women during interviews but are they ever asked to men? No one asks male candidates if they’re planning a wedding or how old their kids are. So why is it okay to ask women? Can we please stop normalising this kind of behaviour in interviews? Our careers shouldn’t be judged by our relationship status. Period.
