DGM / Senior Manager - Piping (Iron & Steel Industry)

Role & responsibilities

Piping Design & Execution:

• To lead the piping execution, installation, and erection of critical process piping systems for iron ore pelletizing, beneficiation, and concentrator plants.
• To ensure compliance with piping codes, standards (ASME, ASTM, API, IS), and industry best practices.
• To review P&IDs, isometric drawings, piping layouts, and material specifications to ensure accurate execution.

Structural Erection & Site Supervision:

• To plan and oversee erection activities of piping and structural components, ensuring alignment with project schedules.
• To coordinate with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure smooth execution of erection jobs.
• To conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure correct installation of piping systems.

Project Coordination & Planning:

• To collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to align piping installation with project timelines.
• To monitor material availability, manpower allocation, and equipment utilization to ensure smooth execution.
• To prepare daily progress reports, work schedules, and resource planning for piping erection activities.

Testing & Commissioning:

• To oversee hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, and flushing of installed pipelines.
• To assist in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities for seamless plant operations.
• To troubleshoot piping-related issues and provide technical resolutions during commissioning.

Troubleshooting & Technical Support:

• To address site challenges, design modifications, and piping clashes during erection.
• To coordinate with vendors, contractors, and site teams to resolve technical issues.
• To assist in commissioning, performance testing, and handover of piping systems.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's/masters degree in mechanical engineering / Piping Engineering or related fields.
• Minimum 12 to 15 years of experience in piping execution, erection, and structural works in the mining, pelletizing, or steel industry.
• Strong knowledge of piping materials, welding procedures, pipe stress analysis, and fabrication techniques.
• Expertise in ASME, ASTM, API, IS, and mining industry regulations.
• Experience with hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, and commissioning of piping systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PDMS, PDS, SmartPlant, or similar piping design tools.
