1 - Only boot lickers with no attitude towards work are promoted. Too much politics. 2 - 6% salary hike, worst among all the organizations. 3 - Management is just for name and politics, even VP doesn't know how the increment is done and how much fund will be given to the specific team. These decisions are made at SVP level which is too bad. They don't have a vision of how people will be promoted, they only aim for their profit and their own salary share. 4 - Managers highlight a simple work of a boot lockers as if he conquered the Himalayas. In the LOB i worked, There are no benefits , ,hike, appraisal no additional activities it's always just work and work with micromanagement and stress. Will be told as where to sit, timings and rules to go to lunch, with the people whom you have to go to lunch and have to provide justification for every action taken just like a school.

Nothing is good. More powers to managers and less to hr's. Even if HR policy is to come office 2 days but due to managers ego you may come 5 days also. And even for leave or wfh you have to email managers and take approval. Mangers themselves dont come to office but expects you too come. The culture is pointing culture here instead of solving a issue. Frustrated in here.

Work life friendly and slow company (at least my division, but I hear the same across orgs. OCI is a little hectic but nowhere close to Amzn, Googl etc.) You can have a life and can continue learning since you get lot of time.

Can be top heavy. Non competent people across job families. Every other person gets hired as Director, Sr. Director or Principal. Since it doesn't let people go till you have committed a legal / compliance blunder, people stick here for decades. You stay long enough here and will be irrelevant in market.

Oracle has customers world wide so the work that you do impacts many people. This gives a huge satisfaction as a Software Developer. The work life balance is great where 5-6 hours of solid work is enough to get you through your daily tasks. I have not heard of any layoffs in Oracle's Application Development Unit so the job security is great.

Dislikes

Salaries at Oracle are not standardized at all. Fresh college graduates will make more than you if you are a lateral entry joining after 1-2 years FTE. The main difference is in stocks. Tier 1 fresh graduates get around 50k USD in stocks and if you join as an IC2 with 1-4 years of experience, you get 0. The salary desparity is huge and as far as I have heard, the hike cycles are non existent. With regards to learning, as an Applications Developer at Oracle, you will work with Internal tools like VBS and ADF which are not widely used in the industry. These are low code tools which require good problem solving and debugging skills to master but do not require hands on coding as such.
